フェルナンド･トーレスがコンビニで発売中の集英社ジャンプリミックスキャプテン翼小学生編6で巻頭カラーインタビューに答えている。

世界有数のFWとして知られるフェルナンド･トーレスだが、意外にも好きな選手はGKのベンジ(若林)だったそうだ。ベンジ(若林)に憧れてGKをしたものの顔に来るボールをよけずに何度も歯を折り、FWへ転向、そこからはオリベル(大空翼)一筋だったそうである。FWのマーク･レンダース(日向)はあまり好きになれなかったそうだ。

また、今でもことあるごとにサッカーをやっている子供達に「絶対に見た方がいい」と「オリベル・イ・ベンジ(キャプテン翼)」を薦めていると言う。プロサッカー選手を目指す子供にとってとてもためになるアニメだからだそうだ。

スペイン代表チームファンは「オリベル・イ・ベンジ(キャプテン翼)」のアニメ主題歌のオリベルとベンジをフェルナンド･トーレスとダビド・ビジャに置き換えて替え歌で応援しており、フェルナンド･トーレス自身、「あの応援歌を聴くとすごくテンションが上がる」と語っている。

　アイツの噂で婆ちゃんも走る（ぐらい元気になる）とのことです。

@chels I know what you mean, its hard to find good help these days. People now days just don't have the work ethic they used to have. I mean consider whoever wrote this post, they must have been working hard to write that good and it took a good bit of their time I am sure. I work with people who couldn't write like this if they tried, and getting them to try is hard enough as it is.
